Its been a while since I had the chance to put anything on the blog, connectivity here is just not at all what I thought it would be.....
We are nearly at the end of the China tour, its been a real mixed bag of sights and sounds, when I get the chance I will add some photos, for now words will have to do.
We are sat in Kunming, Pat is recovering from a fever she has been carrying along for a couple of days, we had to get the doctor to check her out, her temperature hit 40 degrees plus, so it was down to the local clinic for a couple of hours of drips and injections to see her right.
She feels in words 'shit' but I think she is on the mend.
We have two or three more days in China, we have been to the most easterly part of the china wall, been to see the terracotta warriors, driven along with Yaks, and eaten them!! We had the chance to go into the Dinosaur park to see the oldest near complete skeletons of 170 million year beasts in Asia, and your allowed to touch bones.....
We got caught up in a storm that would strip the paint of the average car, luckily theres not too much average about tiny.....
We have looked on as baby Giants Pandas have played silly games without a care in the world, seen more Buddhist monks and temples than I care to mention AND have become skilled in the art of driving in China, hence the term Asia Flow, no right of way, no inch given, plenty just taken for granted, its been an eye opener to the best way not to drive, how on earth they survive a life time of driving is beyond me.... if you have ever considered driving in China, bring something along that is as big as a tank or something you don't care for too much.....
Tiny has so far managed to survive all thrown at him BUT it has been a challenge !!!
As we prepare to depart China, Rachie and Tom are also parting company from us, with Rach flying onto Bangkok for some R and R before heading home and Tom taking his chances in Laos for a while...
Its a sad departure, as in effect it leaves just Macbeth and us out of the original line up heading south, with Macbeth having to move quite quickly through the next couple of countries and us determined to slow down, it will lead to us travelling the same roads at different speeds, and ultimately making the final run into OZ on our own.....
Not really the plan but as we have taught our NAVO Chinese guide one English saying, its that 'Shit happens', and so we will press on as per the plan and see how it goes.
All in all, a great reminder that we on the other side of the Bamboo curtain really have led sheltered lives............
